Before and After DAK

We do our best not to overwhelm you when it comes to picking out the design and decking materials. Being deck builders for the last 40 years, we've found the best materials, building practices, carpenters and manufacturers. We then field test and zero in on what specific products perform the best in this environment. Only then do we start recommending them to our customers. This deck transformed from old and rotten to a masterpiece with Trex Jasper decking and Westbury Tuscany rails. It's a classic!

Above is a beautiful 22' x 21' deck transformation that went from a wooden high-maintenance deck to a super low-maintenance and long-lasting Trex Island Mist deck with Westbury Tuscany Aluminum rails. The deck comes with a 50-year fade and stain warranty, while the rails include a limited lifetime warranty. The proud new owners of this deck said, "They did a wonderful job and paid great attention to detail, and on were on budget!"

When your backyard overlooks a beautiful space like this, you go all out. This is one of the largest decks we've built to date. With over 2,000 square feet of Trex Tiki Torch decking and Trex Signature railing, there's room for some big gatherings. It includes a grill deck section, a screen porch and a multi-story wrap-around deck. By selecting the Trex boards with Trex rails it extended their labor warranty to 10 years - not to mention the 50 year deck warranty!

When you're replacing boards that have an estimated 50-year life span, you don't want to put it on something that is on its way out. This deck was built on the same footprint, but everything was replaced - per usual. It has Charlottesville's most popular Trex Biscayne boards and the Westbury Black powder-coated aluminum rails. With this composite decking, they'll never have to worry about staining, sanding, painting, or insects.

If you've owned a home with a wooden deck for any length of time you know how much work goes into maintaining it. A few things you need to be ready for is staining/painting it every 5 years, washing it 1-2 x's a year, replacing splintering parts, and keeping an eye out for carpenter bees. With a composite deck you'll save yourself somewhere between 10-40 hours a year. This owner wanted some more free time so he chose the Trex lineage line.
